About the Ride
Our 4th Annual Plateau to Percy Bike Tour (P2P) will take you on a 220-mile journey through some of Tennessee's most scenic roads. This ride will raise funds for Walk Bike Nashville's advocacy work including its Families for Safe Streets Program (FSS). FSS is an advocacy and peer-to-peer support group for victims and family members of traffic violence.
The entire bike ride will last 4 days and will begin in Dunlap, TN, and end in Nashville at Percy Priest Lake. We'll spend days 1 and 2 cycling through the Sequatchie Valley, one of Tennessee's most coveted bicycle riding destinations. The valley floor is filled with rolling hills, rivers, and farmlands. The plateaus boast beautiful views and the vast landscapes of Eastern Tennessee. On days 3 and 4 you'll cycle into Middle Tennessee, getting the opportunity to explore quaint towns, man-made lakes, and local breweries. Each night, we'll stay in a different state park - Fall Creek Falls, Cumberland Mountain, and Edgar Evins. Cabins at each state park come with double beds, provided linens and heating/ac.
We'll complete our ride at Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, TN. Here we'll have a ride completion celebration, as well as hear from some Families for Safe Streets members about the importance of the group and the impact of your fundraising.
Ride Details
Dates: September 21-24, 2023
Ride Locations: Dunlap, TN to Nashville, TN
Transportation: We will meet early on Day 1 of our trip at our final ride destination, Percy Priest Lake, and drive (participants, bikes, and luggage) to our ride start location, Dunlap TN. Walk Bike Nashville will provide van transportation for all participants; however, you do have the option to get yourself (your bike and your luggage) to Dunlap, TN if you prefer.
Lodging: We will be staying at a different state park each night: Fall Creek Falls, Cumberland Mountain and Edgar Evins.
Food: We will be preparing meals at each State Park. Plateau to Percy bike guides and participants will prepare meals for the group. Your fundraising costs provide the following meals:
- Day 1 lunch and dinner
- Day 2 breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Day 3 breakfast lunch and dinner
- Day 4 breakfast and lunch
Registration: We will open registration on January 10, 2023. All registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and due to limited cabin availability at state parks, we can only allow 20 ride participants for 2023.
By participating, you will be agreeing to our Bike Rider Agreement Form.
Fundraising: To secure a spot on the bike tour, all participants must submit a $100 deposit to Walk Bike Nashville. We encourage you to fundraise the amount needed for the bike tour; however, if you prefer to pay the amount in full, you can write a check directly to Walk Bike Nashville for your ride participation amount. You will indicate on your registration form how you will be supplying the funds for the bike tour. If you choose to fundraise, you will be given a participant-specific fundraising page through our website.
Fundraising Amounts:
- $1,500 per rider on P2P Regular
